MOU with UTAR
UTAR seals pact with Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd for Smart Waste Management
Emphasising on the importance of sustainable waste management in Malaysia, Prof Ewe in his speech said, “We are indeed delighted to associate with Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd, a Malaysia incorporated company and a smart city technology solution provider, in the area of smart and sustainable waste management in villages in Perak. For this reason, UTAR is indeed pleased to collaborate with Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd to promote various smart energy and smart solid waste processing technologies for the villages. As a University which values all-round collaborations with over 400 partners ranging from universities to corporations from more than 28 economies, we are very thankful that such win-win synergy has been instrumental in reaffirming UTAR’s status as a global university of educational excellence with transformative societal impact. I believe today’s signing of MoU with Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd also will lead to many joint initiatives such as collaborative research and training, people and information exchange, staff and student developmental activities, student internship opportunities, and so on to keep abreast of the latest technologies and developments.” A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between UTAR and Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd at Kampar Campus on 4 March 2020 to formalise partnerships.
Signing the MoU were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Executive Director of Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd Donahue Chong Yew Hing, while witnessing the signing were UTAR Vice President for R&D and Commercialisation Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd Wayne Tan Chee Wei.
Also present were UTAR Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) Acting Dean-cum-Deputy Dean for Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Assoc Prof Ir Dr Ng Choon Aun, Business Development Executive of Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd Nicole Wan, Senior Engineer of Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd Alvix Tan, Assistant Technical Consultant of BIMAGE Malaysia Ahmad Adnin bin Firdaus, FEGT’s Deputy Dean for Student Development and Industrial Training Dr Tan Kok Tat, FEGT’s Head of Department of PetroChemical Engineering Dr M. Mathialagan, Head of Department of Environmental Engineering Assoc Prof Dr Mohammed J. K. Bashir, Head of Department of Construction Management Dr Olanrewaju Abdullateef Ashola, FEGT Lecturers Dr Leong Kah Hon, Assoc Prof Dr M. Yamuna, UTAR staff and students.
Echoing the sentiment of Prof Ewe, Chong enthused, “Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd indeed feels privileged to be able to work closely with UTAR specifically with the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology in the areas of smart energy and smart municipal solid waste processing technologies and projects for use in the villages of Perak. I hope the partnership between UTAR and Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd could leverage each other to generate new leads and collaborative projects where both parties could share the positive results and benefits. I hope the partnership established also would benefit more and more UTAR students to work together and learn more about the latest developments of smart waste management and ultimately contribute back to society.” He also professed that as one of the established industry partners of UTAR, Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd would be glad to assist the university to use their virtual design and construction software to provide a digitalised description of UTAR Hospital.
With the signing of this MoU, UTAR and Technojis Enterprise Sdn Bhd will officially begin their strategic partnership to initiate joint community education and awareness projects in waste reduction, separation, recycling and treatment with some of the new villages in Perak; to empower UTAR staff and students through participation and training in the area of waste recycling and treatment; to install and operate a pilot testing on solid waste low-temperature self-decomposing technology with Kampung Bali, and to develop a sustainable solid waste recycling and treatment plan and proposal for villages in Perak state.
This partnership will also integrate the latest requirements from the industry in UTAR’s course curricula and its research areas. This, in turn, will ensure UTAR students acquire the pertinent qualifications and acknowledgement and the industry gets suitably competent and qualified graduates as employees.
